Use a multimeter to check the continuity and resistance of the clock spring while turning the steering wheel to identify intermittent open circuits.
Check the connectors at the steering wheel airbag, specifically looking for damaged Terminal Position Assurance (CPA) locks.
If poor tension is found at the X3 connector, it may need to be tightened or repaired, as outlined in GM Technical Service Bulletins.
Test the yellow harness wires for open or short circuits.
