Unbeknownst to Team 7, they are being shadowed by the Moya Triad , a group of low-level criminals seeking revenge on Kakashi for a past defeat. Their bungled attempts to attack Kakashi only serve to inadvertently aid his evasive maneuvers. The Iconic "Big Reveal"

It is one of the rare moments in the series where Naruto, Sakura, and the usually stoic Sasuke are perfectly in sync and acting like normal children.

The episode was actually adapted from a three-page omake (extra) included in the first Naruto databook, giving it a touch of "official" inspiration.
