Inside, suspended in a nutrient-rich gel, was the heart of her project: a massive, bioluminescent weeping fig. Its leaves pulsed with a soft, rhythmic emerald light that matched the beat of her own heart.

This was the Conservatory, the last lung of a choking city, and Elena was its keeper. NÖVÉNYEK PT.3

Elena froze. Air lock 4 opened directly into the dead zone of the city. If the toxic smog outside flooded the Conservatory, decades of delicate work would be wiped out in minutes. The heavy steel doors of Air lock 4 were trembling. A thick, yellowish fog was already seeping through the rubber seals, curling across the floor like a living, predatory thing. The automated sealing system had jammed.

With a powerful, collective flex, the vines turned the massive wheel. The heavy steel gears groaned, clicked, and finally slammed shut with a resounding thud. The seal was locked.
