Eventually, the Gems simply walk away to deal with a real monster, leaving Ronaldo to claim a "moral victory." He concludes his documentary by telling his viewers that while the Gems remain for now, he is the vigilant guardian watching from the shadows. The Aftermath
The drama reaches its peak when Ronaldo decides the only way to save the town is to "banish" the Gems. He stands on the beach, shouting demands at the Temple. Steven, playing along out of kindness, tries to explain that the Gems live there to protect the Earth, but Ronaldo is too deep in his own narrative.
